A very pretty, antique souvenir of Springfield, Massachusetts. The German porcelain hair receiver is approximately circa 1910s, and a lovely addition to the vanity. The white porcelain receiver is painted a very pale green with pink flowers and maroon striping. In very good antique condition with finish loss, please see photos for details. The porcelain hair receiver measures approximately 3 1/4" in diameter and 1 3/4" tall.

From Wikipedia:
A hair receiver is a small pot, typically made of ceramic, bronze, or crystal,[1] with a hole in the lid, kept on the dressing table in the Victorian era to store hair removed from brushes and combs. The hair was recycled in a number of ways—notably for stuffing small bags, about 8–10 centimetres (3–4 in) across, called ratts, used to bulk out women's hairstyles. Human hair was also used for stuffing pincushions and small furnishing cushions.
